Which shop can last for 50 years, when it only sells one product?
As the clerk of the pie shop said: “Clarkie is the best in the world.”, these tasty pies have been many Cardiffians’ memories over half a century.
There are two Clark’s pie shops in Cardiff. The one in Grangetown that celebrated its 50th birthday last year, opened in 1955, and another one is located in Canton, near the Victoria Park.
They only sell pies and pasties, which stuffed with beef, gravy and vegetable, and the thick pastry is also many fans’ favorite. Due to the increasing popularity, the price of pies slightly rises this year- a large hot one costs £1.
As Cardiff’s tradition, having fresh Clark’s pies from the shop and drinking Brains beer have become popular tourist attractions.
